How long can I stay in the UK on an International Sportsperson visa?
The duration of the visa depends on the type of work you are going to do. Generally, it can be issued for up to a maximum of 3 years, but some are shorter. The duration may also be dictated by the period stated on the Certificate of Sponsorship.
What are the eligibility requirements of an International Sportsperson visa?
The main eligibility requirements for an International Sportsperson visa are:
- You need a job offer and a Certificate of Sponsorship from a licensed sponsor in the UK.
- Unless exempted, you must show you have enough money to support yourself for an initial period in the UK.
- You will need to pay the healthcare surcharge as part of the application.
- You may need to satisfy the English language requirement if you apply to come for longer than 12 months.
- You cannot apply for the visa from within the UK.
- To demonstrate you can travel and provide your travel history over the preceding five years.
If you are switching into the category after being present in the UK as a student, you must also show you have an eligible qualification.
