We have made the decision to stop posting on X, formerly Twitter. This decision has been a long time coming, as the platform has increasingly enabled harmful rhetoric and ideologies under its current ownership. The recent actions taken by its owner during the US presidential inauguration represent a deeply troubling alignment with hate and division. These actions were the final straw, underscoring a disregard for basic values of respect and a promotion of fascist ideology, and they reflect a broader pattern that directly contradicts our values.
The platform has become a space where xenophobia, anti-migrant rhetoric, and disinformation are not only tolerated but actively encouraged. This includes the amplification, and active support of harmful ideologies and policies that a Trump presidency is already proving to represent, such as support for restrictive border controls, the criminalisation of migrants, and the erosion of pathways to legal migration and citizenship. These narratives dehumanise racialised individuals and vulnerable people, foster division, and create barriers to understanding migrants as people who are invaluable to our society and who deserve respect and dignity.
As an organisation committed to supporting migrants and the rights of all individuals, we cannot continue to engage on a platform that undermines these principles. While our account will remain live for reference, we will no longer contribute new content. Instead, we encourage you to join us on BlueSky, or our other platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) where we will continue to share updates and advocate for the values of respect, inclusion, and human dignity in a space that better supports these principles. We will keep under review the platforms we use. Thank you for standing with us in promoting a safer, more inclusive environment.
Quote from our Director
“As a law firm committed to supporting migrants and fighting for fairness, we cannot remain on a platform that amplify harmful rhetoric and policies. The current leadership of X has fostered an environment where anti-migrant hostility and disinformation thrive, directly undermining the principles of justice and equality that guide our work. We believe it is our responsibility to take a stand, and this is why we are stepping away from the platform. Our focus will remain on advocating for a society that values inclusion and dignity for migrants and ensuring that everyone is able to reach their human potential.”
